Eva Mae Brown

 Eva Mae Brown, 94, of South Elgin, IL., was called home by her Lord on January 8, 2018. She passed away at Heritage Health, Elgin, where she had lived for the past two years. Eva was born March 26, 1923, in Ringwood, IL, to Ira Harrison Stuart and Minnie (Carter) Stuart. Eva married Melvin Brown on June 30, 1941, in Elgin, and they spent many years farming before settling in Pingree Grove, and then, South Elgin. Eva was employed at the Elgin Watch Factory, Union Special in Huntley, and as a homemaker companion for the elderly. Eva was a 35-year member of New Life Community Church (formerly Elgin Bible Church). Besides her family, Eva enjoyed her church activities and bowling. In her later years, she enjoyed playing pinochle with her card buddies. She is survived by her loving children, David Brown of Chadwick, IL; Bob (Kathy) Brown and Maralee (Greg) Parker of Elgin, IL; grandchildren, Matt (Amy) Walters, Julie (Jeremy) West, Chad (Melissa) Parker, Bethany (Rick) Nicpon, and great-grandchildren, Avery and Tyler Walters, Abby, Lexi, and Ethan Parker, and Maeve and Addison West; sister, Virginia “Pat” Huston of Richland Center, WI. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin Brown in 1993, brother Nelson Stuart; and sisters Dorothy Miller, Arlene Butts, Leona Barry, and Flora Beltz. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM on Friday, January 12 at Laird Funeral Home, Elgin, and will continue Saturday at New Life Community Church, 1580 E. Chicago St., Elgin, 60120, from 9 AM until the service begins at 10AM, with Pastor John Palmieri officiating. Burial will be immediately following in Plato Cemetery. Memorials in her name may be made to New Life Community Church. “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.’” John 11:25-26.
