Lucille Marie Corn, age 92, of Elgin, passed away surrounded by the love of her family on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. She was born June 15, 1925, the daughter of proud parents Orville and Margaret Bouk. Lucille grew up in Cabery, IL, and graduated from Cabery High School. She was united in marriage to Benjamin Gene Corn on November 30, 1946 and just celebrated 71 years of marriage. Ben is a WWII veteran, and Lucille’s wedding dress was made from her brother’s WWII parachute. Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her life revolved around the family and she was always there when you needed her no matter what. She was queen of her kitchen, making everything from scratch and with much love in each recipe. Lucille enjoyed professional, local, and family sporting events, building memories with the family and supporting Ben’s business ventures. She worked at both Corn’s Freeze (a.k.a. Tastee Freeze) and Dixie Cream Donuts while raising her family. She was kind and thoughtful to everyone, especially to those less fortunate. Lucille is survived by her husband and seven children: Wayne Corn of Pingree Grove, Kathy (Robert) Brown of Elgin, Bruce (Verdelle) Corn of Elgin, Steve (Bonny) Corn of Elgin, Diane (Douglas) Stredde of Pingree Grove, Deborah (William) Scheitlin of Elgin and Brian (Christine) Corn of Kirkland. Lucille has 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and friends. She has a dear sister, Alice Jean Jacob of Thornton, Colorado. Lucille is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Bouk. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Laird Funeral Home, 310 S. State St., Elgin, IL.
